The workshop brought together over 50 faculty members physically, with an additional 20 joining virtually. Day one focused on strengthening research and innovation at the University of Nairobi through effective grant proposal development. Key topics included financial planning and grant management, procurement processes, appropriate budgeting, staffing, and human resource considerations. The workshop also covered legal aspects of grant proposals, including agreements with partners, as well as strategies for communicating project outcomes and building strategic partnerships.

This first session laid a solid foundation for day two, where participants will delve deeper into advanced technical skills needed to develop successful grant proposals. The event marked a significant step toward improving research and innovation capabilities at UoN.
