2023 Call for Applications: Erasmus Scholarships for Student and Staff Mobility
The Erasmus+ KA171 Program of the European Commission promotes mobility of students and staff members between Higher Education Institutions in Europe and partner institutions in non-European partner countries. Universidad Católica San Antonio (UCAM) has been a beneficiary of 30 scholarships under the action KA171 in the 2022 call. These grants are aimed for students and staff from our partner universities for the purpose of exchange periods in Murcia.
ARTICLE 1. PURPOSE OF THE CALL
Student and staff mobility is one of the key activities of the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Program in the field of Education, Youth and Sport. The present Call is based on the funding awarded to UCAM for mobility projects with EU-partner countries under Key Action 171 of the Erasmus+ Program for undergraduate students and for staff members.
The exchanges will take place in the academic year 2023-2024, 2024-2025 or 2025-2026 being the last possible day of the stay 31/07/2026.
The purposes of this call are:
- To offer study opportunities to students and research and training opportunities to staff members from partner universities included in the project
- To improve competences and skills of both students and staff.
- To establish and/or strengthen links between UCAM and our partner universities, promoting transnational academic cooperation and long lasting partnerships.
- To improve participants’ language and cultural skills, promoting mutual enrichment and understanding.
In the framework of the Erasmus+ Program, it is compulsory to sign an inter-institutional agreement needs be signed between the sending and the receiving university before the start of the mobilities.
ARTICLE 2. REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTNER UNIVERSITIES AND SELECTED STUDENTS AND STAFF
2.1 Student Mobility
The partner university will publish this Call on their website and will promote the available Erasmus+ grants among their students and staff. The selection process will evaluate the applicants and will prioritize candidates according to the established criteria and budgetary availability. The selection process will be based on the principles of equity, fairness and transparency.
Partner universities will organize a selection procedure for students based on the following selection criteria:
1. Academic performance: the average grade of the student up until the date of selection will constitute a 45% of the final assessment rate.
2. Language skills (accreditation of language proficiency in either Spanish (B1 level) or English (B2 level by official certificate or tested by the home university) : 45%
3. Criteria established by the home university (such as student motivation, maturity, experience, among others).
The host university should choose one of these three criteria as a tie breaker in case of equal punctuation of two or more students. All information about the selection procedure should be included in the public Call for applications. The partner university will publish a provisional list of selected and non-selected candidates with their punctuation and will establish a period of allegations. After this period of allegations a definitive list of selected candidates will be published.
To be eligible, the proposed student mobility must fulfil the following general conditions:
- The area of study of the selected student must coincide with the study areas included in the Inter-Institutional Agreement between UCAM and the partner university.
- The student must be enrolled in an undergraduate program in the partner university and they should be enrolled at least in the second year of their degree.
- The student cannot exceed 12 months of Erasmus stay in the same study cycle
- The Erasmus stay will be of approximately 5 months (1 semester)
- The Erasmus mobility must take place before 31/7/2025
Obligations selected students:
- Submit a Learning Agreement in Erasmus format signed by the sending and receiving institution
- Submit a Language certificate proofing the proficiency in the chosen language of instruction
- Submit an official Transcript of Records (in English language)
- Submit proof of Health Insurance covering the full study period in Spain
2.2. Staff Mobility
To be eligible, the proposed staff mobility must fulfil the following general conditions:
- In case of a teaching mobility: the area of study of the selected teacher must coincide with the study areas included in the Inter-Institutional Agreement between UCAM and the partner university.
- The staff member must be under contract at the partner university
- The Erasmus stay will be of approximately 5 days (exact duration in the table below)
- The Erasmus mobility must take place before 31/7/2026
Partner universities will organize a selection procedure for teaching and/or non-teaching staff members, granting a maximum of 10 points for each of the following circumstances, being 40 points the maximum possible score:
1. The staff member has never participated in the Erasmus program (10 point)
The staff member has not participated in the Erasmus program during the previous 5 years (5 points)
The staff member has not participated in the Erasmus programs the Erasmus program during the previous 3 years (3 points)
2. Language skills in the official language of the host university or English, accredited by an official Language certificate, nationality (native speaker) or a University certificate
C2 level (or native speaker): 10 points
C1 level: 8 points
B2 level: 6 points
B1 level: 3 points
3. The staff member has a fulltime contract at the home institution (10 points)
The staff member has a semi fulltime (minimum 70%) contract at the home institution (5 points)
4. The Staff member is involved in the management of Student/Staff International Mobility Programs in the home university (10 points)
The host university should choose one of these four criteria as a tie breaker in case of equal punctuation of two or more staff members. All information about the selection procedure should be included in the public Call for applications. The partner university will publish a provisional list of selected and non-selected candidates with their punctuation and will establish a period of allegations. After this period of allegations a definitive list of selected candidates will be published.
